So I'm one sleeps away from leaving ottawa. My bike is back from the dealer after a tune-up, I found out that one of my fine new tires had been mounted backwards by my local honda shop - and it cost me an extra $50 to get it re-mounted - so much for saving money by buying tires and doing part of the work myself!
My packing for the trip is all done. The trunk and bag are on the bike. Darth Fairing is off and my reliable Memphis Fats windshield is back on. No equipment changes to the bike for this ride, I have the maps in my Zumo GPS updated and I've mounted a helmet lock under the trunk rack. I'll have a bit more storage on this trip because I'm going to mount my old tail bag between my backrest and my trunk. I'll use it for day storage for things like my chaps and leave it on the bike full-time.
My first night will be at my sister's place in Toronto. After that it's cheap motels all the way. There's a gap in my chain of bookings around Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone. Rushmore is tricky because It's in the catchment area of the huge Sturgis rally the same week i'm passing through so i couldn't find anything under $100 or that would allow me to cancel or change dates. Yellowstone is tough because I just don't know where I want to stay.
